Why I am writing about quotes

I'm a big fan of quotes. I'm not sure exactly why. But if I had to guess it would be that they are distilled stories that demonstrate to us that we are not the only people to go through certain emotions or situations. They are nuggets of wisdom that have been mined through other people's experiences that can resonate with our own circumstances or inspire us to move in certain directions.

We do not rise to the level of our goals but we fall to the level of our systems.
James Clear

I recently came across a quote from James Clear (the author of Atomic Habits) that basically summarised what I am trying to do with my career in a one-liner! Amazing.

It inspired me to start collecting quotes that are relevant to the mission I have for my life and the product that I am building. I want to help people to achieve their life goals and to deliberately design their lives.

I am on the journey with my customers as I am also trying to achieve my goals and design the life that I want. It is definitely a journey of discovery. I think that quotes can be very useful for this.

They give us a sense of perspective and at the same time belonging. We are not as unique as we think. Our problems and struggles are not unique either. We all have to deal with similar situations but in our Instagram world, it seems like everyone else is doing so much better than us. Those are generally just facades.

With the lists of quotes I am curating here, I won't just make crazy long lists. I won't include more than 15 quotes on each topic. And in a bit of a twist on all the other quotes lists that I have come across, I will write why I like the quote and what it means to me.

Over time the quotes in each list will change if I come across something that resonates more with me. I hope that this can become a resource that can be perused from time-to-time for inspiration depending on how you are feeling. I'm compiling these lists for me but I genuinely hope that they will be useful to others too.

In general, I will keep the topics to personal productivity, goal setting, life design and overall self-improvement. However, I think I'll also do some fun lists such as "Yoda quotes" or "Irish quotes" and other topics that interest me.

If you have a favourite quote that fits into one of the categories below. Ping me a mail. If it also resonates with me I'll include it.
